Police Truck

So, I have had a weird weekend. It's been one of those emo days. But I'll start with good things that happened to me on Friday.

This week I got an e-mail from the cafeteria here. I'd applied there way in July, but I was told that Bruce (the cafeteria I applied to) wasn't going to be open until October, so they weren't looking for help. But the e-mail said that they were looking for servers and dining room workers, so I thought about it for a couple of days. But then I realized: I don't have anyone to take care of me. This job was offering 20 hours a week and no weekends. Can't pass that up. So I called and filled out an application for Human Resources. Then Friday I went to Victory Hall for the interview. And he loved me! Particularly my smile. So I got the job! I CAN'T WAIT TO START! Hopefully I get to meet some new people and it'll help my mood:) I'm excited!
This is the song that I was listening to on my "emo" afternoon yesterday. Definitely one of the saddest songs I've heard in a while. And then there's the Coldplay version...eww. But aside from having a girly emotional moment yesterday, I had fun! I went to my first college football game! And we WON! (finally!) Wahoo! 24-21. Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Fun, fun. Afterwards I hung out with some people from Fry Street and called it a night. I was tired. So...I'm not sure what this week holds, but I'm excited to see what happens next in my life. I've been going through a lot of changes lately. (some good, some just weird) But I'm still loving the ride. Well, time to clean my room. Tonight I'm going to try my hand at using a stove for the first time since I've moved. But to leave off, enjoy the Song of The Weekend, bought to you by NOFX.

What I Got

Okay...so I have started to realize that I don't really sleep anymore... Ever since I started Big Girl College, I don't sleep as much as when I was at KC. Not in a negative sense; I'm just always busy with something nowadays.
(Yes, I know this picture is sideways!) But it's a picture of Denton's town square, where I spend time sometimes on weekends:) Today marks ONE MONTH since the day I moved in here! I have had my fair share of bad days, frustration, and homesickness. But I have also had plenty of fun and adventures. So in honor of my one-month anniversary here, I took a page from a blog of an old classmate of mine and decided to list the weirdest and funniest and best things that have happened to me thus far. Hence, "Awkward and Awesome: The Denton Edition!"
-
-Awkward
-Getting lost on campus more times than I can count
-Buying cheap bologna and getting it home realizing it's expired. Yuck.
-Walking into the wrong class for my Spanish lab
-Noticing a hot guy in your Spanish class, but only realizing he's hot the day he has to run out of the classroom to throw up. Ummmm....
-Skipping class from lack of sleep
-Being hungry...and broke

Awesome:)
-Landing an awesome job in UNT's chapel.
-Finally getting my budget together!
-Paying off a loan and paying too much, so I got an unexpected check in the mail
-Loooong nights on the Square with awesome people
-Having a nice dorm room with no roommates or suite mates
-Laughing at drunk people on Fry Street
-My new friends!
-
So here's to another eight months of awkward and awesome misadventures!

Love, Tyeisha :D

Everything in Moderation (especially moderation)

Today has been a LONG day. I mean LONG. It was a long weekend too. I had a lot of company this weekend and went out to Cool Beans (a bar with a rooftop that bands play on on Fry Street). It was HILARIOUS. This drunk woman tried to hit on the guy I went there with. Which was funny. She just went up to him and started touching his chest. I was laughing so hard I had to walk away. Then she tried to teach me how to dance and hook me up with her brother, the drummer in the band that was playing. (He was pretty cute!) Then we went to Crooked Crust and met up with some more friends of mine from earlier this month. Fry Street can get pretty well...interesting. Too interesting. Don't think I'll be going there too often.
My first college football ticket! Since I was sick for our first home game, this'll be my first college game ever! Can't wait to get decked out in green for Saturday!:)

Well, it's Monday! Which means sleepiness, crankiness, and sore legs from walking all weekend! But it's also...Hot Guy of The Week day! And so, without further suspense, our Hot Guy of The Week is Glenn Danzig! (from Danzig, and Misfits:)) In honor of Punk week on the blog!:)
Old school! Well, I need a nap before my stupid Observatory lab tonight. Laters.=]

Here With Me

Today has been a weird..lazy day. My nose was so stuffy when I came back from improv last night that I had to skip dinner with the group and go home and get on the cold meds again. I had to wake up for my stupid Spanish online class today at 8:30 so I was high for the better part of that class. When she called on me, it took me like fifteen minutes to type out my answer. Ick. So afterwards, I slept from 11-2. When I woke up, I still felt hazy. (I still feel hazy.) I got on Facebook, and 50393838 of my friends on there are in relationships. And I wonder, if I'm behind the times. Am I destined to be a hipster-spinster the rest of my life? Have I missed my prime? Should I have just married one of my ex-fiances? Did I do the right thing, when I decided to go to college? If so, why am I still single? Am I that fat? (I think I've lost weight since I moved.) Questions, questions...Maybe it's the cold  medication talking. But, oh, well, here's a nice picture of some hot guys playing Ska to cheer you (and me) up.

Message in a Bottle

This last weekend has been a haze. I started getting sick last Thursday, and by Friday I was horrible. I stumbled through the day and made it to my last two Friday classes. That night Burke's FINALLY sent me the check I had been wondering about, so I went to bed happy:) The next morning, I still felt horrible. But I had to go cash my check so I could go get cold medicine. I made it downtown and the Antique Car Show was going on, so I got distracted. But I managed to get my medicine and make it home long enough to stream the game against University of Houston on ESPN3. (I was too sick to go to the game.)
We lost. But it was still fun. I took my meds and the next morning I felt tons better. The sore throat was GONE. But I'm still a bit stuffy. Sunday I meant to do laundry, clean, and read over some astronomy homework. Two of of three ain't bad. When it came time to close the chapel and do laundry, my friend Charlie (who had been asking to hang out all week) mentioned it again. So I finally broke down and said okay. It was fun. We went to Wal-Mart (my second time in a Denton store) and ate at Taco Cabana. Fun. Really put me in a good mood for today, even though my nose is stuffy and my feet hurt.

In honor of my good attitude today, I've revived Hot Guy of the Week.:) Our Hot Guy this week is Aaron Barrett, the lead singer of Reel Big Fish. Long Live (sexy!) Ska!
Well, it's nap time. Laters.

Hide and Seek

I have had a busy few days. My birthday was awesome...but I think I had waaay too much junk food because Monday morning, I woke up pretty sick. So I spent my Labor Day dangerously close to my bathroom.:P I am really happy that I went to that improv show at Hailey's. I made pretty good friends with just about everybody there, so I went to their first workshop Monday night. (Yes, I was feeling better then.) I had a good time, and even performed a couple of times with some of them. I plan to go back next week:)

Tuesday I went back to class. It was blah. I don't like class much, but what college student does? Mainly because I am having a panic attack over the amount of research papers and essays I will be writing this semester. And I have some form of Spanish class every day except Friday. How much Spanish does one girl need?! Seriously.

Yesterday was a LONG day. Work and school. But on the upside, this week has been interesting. Improv workshop, a G-rated college party, and a nice get together with some of the RA's here at Legends Hall. I have been very stressed/depressed/homesick lately. I am still working on my new budget, and still making a lot of transitions. I am getting used to my new job, and starting to like my new circle of friends that God has placed me with. I do hope to find a new church home soon, and possibly a steady Bible study. But instead of focusing on all the things that have yet to happen in my life, I decided to take some time and list the things I love/make me happy! (Thanks, Melody!)

Adventure Time. (the show)
nerdy guys.
hipster things.
etsy.com
my grandpa.
my family.
my journal.
guitar hero.
writing.
dancing around my room for no reason.
my nice dorm room.
my job.
sleeping.
talking.
laughing, nonstop.
glasses.
beards.
Ska music.
indie films.
(:This song ALWAYS cheers me up. Always.:)
And this picture made me chuckle.:)

Until next time,

The Birthday Massacre (Part II)

Last night kicked off my 21st birthday celebration! And it was awesome!
It was improv night at Hailey's! It was AMAZING. I felt like I was watching a live episode of "Saturday Night Live" or "The Whitest Kids U Know". And bearded men EVERYWHERE! I. Was. In. Heaven. During the show, I met a few people that I recognized from my dorm. And I wound up going out to Pita Pit (a local restaurant on Fry Street) with them after the show. I definitely don't regret it! Here's a picture of me @ Hailey's after the performances!
Yes, it was a fun time. Anyway, I wound up going to Pita Pit with most of the performers from the show. And  there was this really cute guy from my floor that I had been trying to talk to at our last housing meeting! But I was convinced that I had made a fool of myself and just let it go. But he was an improv performer at the show! So one of the guys from his troupe made us talk to each other. So after the Pit, we went to a party at his friend's trailer! Awesomeness. We played funny board games until almost four, then his friend took us back home. (The dorm.)  Overally, my night was amazing. Tonight's celebration consists of: dinner, back to Hailey's for the free concert, and then the Abbey Underground for dancing! Expect more updates tomorrow!
Love.

The Birthday Massacre (Part I)

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! I love them all!:) My day has been okay so far...I didn't go to class...(yes, I know, bad Ty!) But I'll be back in full swing next week!

This was my birthday breakfast!

And this is my birthday cupcake! So big I could barely bite it! YUM!:)

Tonight I'm going out to Hailey's, a local club here in Denton. There is an improv show going on and I'm excited! Tomorrow I'm meeting up with a friend I met at the Spooky Folk show to keep celebrating! And Sunday, I'm going out some more! Monday I will be resting and doing schoolwork. Expect another post soon later this weekend! Love!
