Nutshell

This week has been yet another LONG one. It was the daycare's first full week of operating at full capacity (12 children) and we are definitely feeling it. If "Zombie" was an energy level, I would be running on 'Z' today. It's also pretty cloudy outside, so all I want to do is sit around and listen to Nirvana and nap. As you can see, I let a few of the kids "make me pretty" for hair and makeup day with some of the girls yesterday. Lately, I've been thinking of Will Farrell lately, so our Hot Guy of The Week is our first (fictional!) Hot Guy, Please welcome, making his first appearance on my little blog, Mr. Ron Burgundy!:)

Stay Classy;)

Love Reign O'er Me

Ethan finally made the all-important "meet-the-parents" pilgrimage this past week. I was probably the most nervous I've been in a while, and he was too. We had some awkward moments (and a few tears), but overall I felt it was a beautiful experience to be able to walk my boyfriend around my hometown. Here's the rundown:

Awkward:
-The rental car place I was going with and had reservations for popped a BUNCH of unexpected charges the day of the reservation, so we decided it wasn't a good idea.
-Ethan's bus got stuck in Longview.:(
-All of the nervousness.
-It was TOO HOT in East Texas.
-Ethan got sad on the night before he had to go back to Fort Worth.:(
-I was trying to split my time between volunteering at the daycare and spending time with Ethan. Busy, much?
-Having to pick up Ethan in Longview when I didn't even know where the bus station was...scary for me, but thank Jesus for GPS!
-My ex came running up to me at one of the restaurants and immediately asked me, "So, is this the new man?" Why, yes it is, and aren't you married? Caught you slippin;)
-Being so busy visiting others that we didn't really have any time for ourselves.

Awesome:
-EVERYONE we met seemed to like Ethan. I mean EVERYBODY.
-The hotel upgraded Ethan's room for free:) Hello, King-size suite!
-All we did was pretty much eat our way through Kilgore.
-My aunt and uncle let us use their car since I decided not to rent another one. I was so happy!
-Ethan driving me to Longview.
-My Grandmomma telling me that I have "a lot of man." Oh, Grandmomma....
-Getting to walk Ethan around all the places that have meant something to me and telling him stories.
-The conversation between my Uncle Raymond and Ethan the day he went home. Bought tears to my eyes.
-Getting to go to church with Ethan. :):):)

For being one of the most important days of my life, it went off pretty smoothly;)

Into The Ocean

A couple of weeks ago, my aunt, my Grandmother and I took a little day trip to Dallas to see my Mom's new apartment. It was pretty nice. One of the highlights of our trip was that I got to see my niece for the first time. She's two. My younger sister and I haven't seen each other since 2006. I'd like to think my niece and I got along pretty okay for the fact that she doesn't really know me. After we made it to my Mother's place, we took a little ride through town to do some girly shopping. Jenny Beauty Supply is the biggest hair store possibly in the Metroplex. It used to be a Target, but now it's Wig Heaven. Walls full of wigs and extensions. I thrifted some 18-inch weave for $15. God bless Oak Cliff.

I, Me, Mine

Sorry for the long pause between posts. (I'm pretty sure I'm mostly apologizing to myself here!) I've been very, very busy volunteering at the daycare and we've had some tech problems with our wi-fi here in Kilgore. But I have a TON of pictures, adventures and more to share with you soon! Ethan just left today from his visit in East Texas and it's been a pretty long, somewhat emotional weekend. I will be updating this week on all the Awkwards and Awesomes from our Kilgore adventure.

Intro

This week has been a LONG week. It was my first week volunteering at my aunt's new daycare, and it has been sort of a trying one. I'm going to be honest here. Kids have not always been my strong point. Even though I babysat as my Senior job in high school, and volunteered at my home church's Children's Ministry through my Junior and Senior year at Kilgore High, I have not always been child-friendly, so helping out at the daycare was a GIANT step out of my comfort zone. I've lost my patience a couple of times this week, but I am pretty proud of myself for actually taking the courage to step out of that zone. (There was once a time in my life when I wouldn't have been seen five hundred miles around a daycare.) I'm hoping I'll actually be used to it by this coming week.

Ethan will be down here in less than a WEEK! I am too excited. He says he has a surprise for me for our nine months! Wonder what he has?

Hope you have a great weekend.

Weights & Measures

As you probably know, I've been a bit busy lately. I had to finish school and make it through Finals, then pack up my room within 24 hours and check out of the dorms. Bye-bye, UNT student housing! Hello, NEW APARTMENT! I went and finalized the paperwork and paid my first month's rent on Thursday evening before I left. Now all that's left to do is move in...

I am now back in East Texas, relaxing a little at home before I move back to Denton next month. So far, I think I might pass up working at Burke's to volunteer at my Aunt's new daycare. Today is my first day, and I'm a {little} nervous....let's hope these children don't bite my head off...or throw up on me.

I hope to be blogging more from ETX soon. Later days:)

Fireworks

This Fourth of July I took some time off work to spend time with Ethan and his family. His mom made us some breakfast and we went to the mall. His brothers (and their wives!) came over in the evening and grilled for awhile, then I had to be the party pooper and come back to Denton so I could study for my Final exams on Friday. It was a very fun day, but I'm glad to be back home. Between trying to move out of my dorm, trying to study, and having to book my bus back to East Texas, I have a feeling this is going to be a long couple of days....

Spoonman

This weekend Ethan and I pretty much ate our way through Denton. No shame here. Friday, he came to take a tour of Sterling (future apartments!) and we went out that night to see that new Steve Carell movie about the end of the world. (He was yummy in that movie. Hottest insurance salesman ever...) Then on Saturday, we went to go see the new Tyler Perry Madea movie. Ethan's face during some of the scenes=priceless. Before the movie, we went to Chuy's, one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to since I've lived here in Denton. They even had cool shirts to buy! Annnnd I'm a sucker, so I bought one. Here's a rundown of the weekend's events.

Awkward:
-On Friday, when we went to go touring at Sterling, there was a older woman there just chilling. She pretty much immediately latched on to Ethan and I and offered to be my maid-of-honor. But I'm not engaged?...
-The party, instead of being at the clubhouse (where we thought it would be) was at the leasing trailer. Too many people, too little space.
-I had way too much Slurpee at that party.
-When we went to see the movie on Friday, there were a ton of women lined up outside the theater to see Magic Mike. There was even a girl there to see it with her ENTIRE family, dad included. Uh, eww?
-Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was quite possibly one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. Ethan cried, I teared up a little. But you didn't hear that from me.
-I'm still tired from school. So ready to be back home.

Awesome:
-Madea was hilarious! Ethan seemed to like it!
-ONLY ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL I HEAD BACK TO KILGORE!
-Chuy's was AMAZING. I loved it and will probably beg Ethan to go back.
-Steve Carell was fine.

Off to have a study party with...myself. Later days.

Love, Ty:)
