The Colossal Gray Sunshine

I spent the majority of this week big chillin' with my Grandpa. It was nice sitting around with him and watching his brand new 50-inch flat screen in the living room. (I want to be like him when I get old.) Today is my last day at the daycare. (I head back to Denton tomorrow! Eeep!) We only have two kids today, which is sort of a bummer that I won't be able to tell my other kids bye... Buuut, I'm sure I'll be seeing them when I come back into town to visit for Christmas. I don't really have too much to do since all my things are in storage in Denton. Just a little light packing. Leaving East Texas is always a little bittersweet for me. I don't like being away from my family for months at a time, but I do miss my life in Denton and I am VERY excited to move in my new apartment!

Moment 4 Life

(Photos courtesy of Larry Harrison.)

Exactly a year ago today I became the first EVER college graduate in my family! Yay! I just wanted to take some time to reflect on that special day. I remember being so nervous that day I could throw up and seeing the little countdown on my computer finally make it to the end of the line.:) Hopefully my Grandmother in Heaven was as proud as I was on that day:)

Rainbow Connection

This week has been pretty interesting. We've gotten a little rain here in East Texas, and there was a pretty big storm here on Thursday night. My cousins and I were in Longview at the dollar movie theater watching The Hunger Games and the lights started to flicker. By the time we got out there had been a pretty bad storm and as we pulled into Kilgore there was not a light on in the entire city. So we spent the night sitting around the formal dining room table listening to music and talking, which is something we don't do often. Here's some of the most notable quotes from that night:

-"Keep it real with my momma, man!"
-"You can love a baby, but you'll never learn to love genital herpes."
-"How come the only line from this song that I know is 'Your emotions are leaking?'"
-"I put my playa card down a while ago..."
-"BAPTIZED IN THE WATA!"
-"GENITAL....HERPES!"

Happy weekend.

Afternoon Delight

This last couple of days have been pretty good to me:) I spent the weekend with my grandmother in her apartment (and on her cozy pull-out sofa!) and ate some good homecooked food. Enough to literally put me in a pork chop stupor. We went to the supermercado (Spanish for supermarket...duh.) to get some fresh meat from the meat market. I loved it. Maybe because my first fiance was Hispanic...Anyway, we got to the meat market and I got a chance to use my (all of THREE) semesters of Spanish skills. Hey, worked enough to get us two whole dollars on our pork chops! Yay!

(Pssst....shoutout to my love Ethan for getting a job today! So proud of you. xoxoxo)

Gamma Ray

This week has zoomed by. It's Wednesday and since we only have one child here today, I have time to finish some important paperwork...and play around on my blog. This week I got the move-in papers for my new apartment in Denton (!!!) and my official move-in date is the 18th. I'm very excited. (Expect an apartment tour blog as soon as I decorate!) I've set my work schedule for next year, and am going on my annual all-important school supply run this weekend. I'm a bit of an overachiever. Last night I went on one of my much-loved long neighborhood walks and managed to catch up with an ice-cream truck. 2 bucks got me that gem of a cone that you see in the picture. Also, managed to find Anchorman on DVD...yay Ron Burgundy!

Hope you're having a great week:)

With Love, Ty:)
